READ THE OWNER'S MANUAL. It's not rocket science, but if you don't know how to use it, it can become useless. This does not cover all possible threads and is not metric. It covers the most common SAE threads used in the USA to the limits of its design. It is designed to test bolts with just your fingers. If you can't ***EASILY*** slide it through one of the hole sizes, use the next smaller hole size. If you need to turn a screw onto a thread with a screwdriver, DO IT WRONG. Do not exaggerate. DO NOT force the screw. Finger pressure ONLY when turning the screw. If the thread of the screw is good, you should be able to screw it all the way through the steel plate ***MANUAL***. When the screw goes ***almost ***by hand and then stops, ***cut the steel plate if using a screwdriver. The tip wasn't accurate. Just for fun I measured mine - it was 1/32 inch. Folks, this is absolutely irrelevant! Propellers are not measured that accurately except by NASA. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to buy tools. The only downside is that the marking is screen printed onto steel. If you always keep it in a plastic bag that it came in, it should last for years.
