Review on πŸ“Ά Hawking Tech Hi-Gain Outdoor Wireless-300N Access Point: Multi-Functional Bridge & Repeater (HOWABN1) by Tylin Meyer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very good wifi booster, setting a bit over the top every time.

The product works better than expected. Get multiple wireless networks in the area. We use it in our RV to try and get a decent signal. Most signals are boosted to 86% which is sustainable, many are 100% but can pick them up without a booster. Booster also lets you use a manual firewall for extra security when using open WiFi. Installation was very easy. The downsides are that it only comes with 3ft of coax cable, which I think is only good for installation. The other downside is that there isn't an easy shortcut you can place on your desktop to open it with your local Wi-Fi. You have to go into settings every time to scan local signals. Very similar to entering router settings. Also doesn't show what signal you're connected to, or desktop power, when the signal gets bad it still shows a strong connection with the extender but not another wifi. For convenience, you really need some kind of desktop software. You need to go into settings to check it. I would have given 5 stars for the quality but I had to return the first unit due to missing parts. I will say that Amazon and Hawking exchanged the device very quickly and the customer service was very good. It's a bit difficult to get a good overview as the park we are in has crappy wifi, unfortunately the repeater can't speed up crappy if it serves too many people online.

Pros
  • Crossing my fingers
Cons
  • Poor repairability
