Okay, but for a very specific use case

First, know what you're getting here — a docking station that lets you view your phone's screen on a TV or monitor, and use the Dex app when If you have a keyboard and a USB mouse, you can control your phone as if it were a small PC. Of course, you need a keyboard, mouse and monitor for this. If you have these things, you probably also have a laptop. So why not just use the Windows/MAC Dex app and connect your phone directly to your computer? It didn't work with the Windows Dex app either! My computer does not recognize my phone when connected through this dock. I connected the phone to my computer using the same USB cable and it was recognized immediately. I understand, of course, that this is for people who aren't at a computer and need the ease of use that this product offers. However, when I bought this product, I expected an improvement over the usual Dex experience on my PC. It offered the opposite along with a cute docking station. This made it impossible for me to use Dex on my PC and phone at the same time (this is how you normally use it - install Dex on your laptop or PC, connect your phone to PC, wait for the Dex prompt on your monitor and phone screen and then use your phone through the computer). For the limited use case this product offers, it just doesn't go beyond 3 stars for me as I don't often need to connect my phone to a TV/monitor and when I do it's unlikely that a keyboard and a mouse are nearby (let's say a friend's house in his living room). If I'm doing something wrong here, I'd appreciate an explanation. Again, this product "blocked" my ability to use Dex like I normally do. Two different laptops with Dex installed did not recognize my phone when docked.

Pros
  • There's something in there
Cons
  • Periodicity
