I rely on my phone for GPS, not the car system. I've used magnetic mounts in the past but found them to move easily and fall out of the vents. This mount gives you options - you can install it in air vents or in a CD slot. In any case, it holds perfectly with this mount. I don't use CDs anymore so thought this would be a great place to mount my phone. There this mount works fine, but in my car the phone then blocks the display and some other controls. I found the vent mount for this unit holds the vent well and allows a bit more clearance from the dashboard compared to the magnetic mount I've had in the past. The magnet works great and easily holds a large iPhone 7+. They even offer round metal parts in case you use the pop jack on the back of your phone. As an added bonus, they offer a charger with an extra cable. For my car, I plug the cable directly into the car. This extra cable is good when my wife rides together. She never seems to have a battery left when she gets in my car and this allows her to charge her phone without turning mine off.
