Good student camera?

In preparation for writing this review, I was wondering why people buy these cameras in the first place and why they are looking for them. I had a hard time figuring out where to place this camera in terms of view. Making videos has become a very popular pastime; From TikTok to YouTube and personal vlogging on Facebook and Instagram, quick and easy video recording seems to have taken over the world. However, when I used this camera, I'm not sure where it fits. My first thought for testing this camera was at church to find a temporary live streaming solution while we ponder our long-term strategy. Before the pandemic, we didn't have a live stream, so our pastor quickly improvised and used his laptop's webcam to stream his sermons on YouTube each week. I figured a dedicated camera like this would be better than a laptop cam or other basic webcam like the ones from Logitech that a lot of people use in offices. And, frankly, better. It's more versatile and nimble than a laptop and offers more options than a standard webcam. It can be placed on a tripod or hand held using the strap or the included handles/grips. And the quality of picture and sound from the camera alone is better than from the laptop. I love the fact that an external microphone can be plugged in and I tested it with my wireless lavalier setup and it worked flawlessly. But I've found that when you give people a camera, even a very inexpensive entry-level camera like this. , they have expectations that this camera will not necessarily meet. So it's important to moderate your expectations. The lens is a fixed focus, and although an additional macro lens is included in the kit, it didn't help me with my mission. But I also tried the macro lens on some product test shots I took with subjects I had on hand, but expectations ended up being the same. You really want more focus control, but you don't have it. Digital zoom may be more useful in a church setting than when photographing products, but digital zoom is still not as good as optical zoom. We need to place this camera to get the best picture quality and not at all where our pastor would like the camera to be (read: on the balcony, not in front of his face). and rate this camera. Most people have phones, and even the most average smartphone can probably focus better than this camera. Whether you're making a regular family video or trying to make a video to upload to the web, it seems like you'd be better off with your phone (unless you want to use your phone). Even for YouTube accounts that don't have enough subscribers to stream live from mobile, there are reputable apps that will allow you to connect your phone to your computer and use it as a webcam, and that seems like the best option. If you want to capture your vacation you should use a good "real" camera or something like a GoPro if your vacation is very active. GoPro mount options are plentiful and seem to add even more flexibility for on-the-go photography. So it's very difficult for me to rate and analyze this camera without understanding how best to use it. What is this use case? However, I have some pros and cons that I will share before I finish: PROS1. Providing 2 removable/rechargeable batteries is a nice plus compared to using a phone2. Again, plugging in an external mic is a killer; Even if the video isn't exactly what you wanted, you can still have good audio. We were able to hook it up to our sound system in church 3 with no problem. The accessory package is appealing overall - bag, batteries, mini HDMI cable, charging/data cable, carrying strap, carrying handle, lens protection, macro lens, boom microphone - that's all you need to get started and I like it a lot4. Fairly intuitive controls. It was a bit fiddly in some cases, but I was able to figure out how to record and play video without consulting the manual5. Decent screen and speakers - These aren't impressive, but they give you a fair idea of the video and audio quality of your video straight away, and this can come in handy when running a lot of experiments in a short amount of time6. The IR mode picks up quite a bit of light, even in the dark, so seems quite suitable for certain scenarios where light is minimal and color isn't needed. AGAINST 1. 128GB limit for SD card. I know it's not a 4K camera but it can shoot 2K so I wish it could handle bigger cards. I happened to have 128GB that I was willing to sacrifice (btw you have to format the cards in that camera for that camera) and use it in it, but for now I've standardized on much larger cards since my phones are from a SD card can record videos in 4K or higher, and I store movies and videos on my tablets2. Fixed focus and digital zoom mean you may need to be conscious and careful about how you frame and position your shots. I find this limiting, but others may not depend on the use case.3. The 90-minute recording time may be a limitation in some cases, but the ability to charge and record at the same time may make it easier for some. This time is sufficient, for example, for a short service or a long sermon. But most people probably aren't going to use this camera in this way, and if they do, they'll probably make sure it's plugged in4. Power on and off sounds can be entertaining or annoying. Overall I think this camera would be fun to play with and it's cheaper than buying a cheap phone or GoPro style camera. This way, you can understand what's important to you when it comes to video production and take these points into account the next time you make a purchase. And perhaps this is the best use case for this camera.
