If you need a key safe, then this is not it. As noted by other reviews, it's pretty flimsy and one could argue that it's overpriced. All I wanted was a place in my drawer for three dozen keys. The center plate holder is quite flimsy and can move. This probably explains some people's trouble opening it, so make sure it doesn't bend. Although there are two mounting holes on the back, I cut them out for keyholes so I can quickly remove them from the wall in the event of an evacuation (Florida hurricanes). Otherwise, it's a great place to organize and store keychains. I already had my keys on key fobs so the pretty key fobs they contained were redundant.
