Review on beyerdynamic Black CUSTOM Game Interactive Gaming Headset with Enhanced SEO by Melanie Williams

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Balanced Rating **UPDATE**

**UPDATE**After a few more weeks of use, the right earcup started buzzing below 95Hz. I sent them back. Too bad. However, great headphones just want better quality control when installing components. I'm sure I was just unlucky, but I still had to upgrade my rating to two stars. So, first things first, I'm a big fan of the Beyer Dynamic DT770 Pro at 32 ohms. They were my daily drivers for 2 years and I loved them. Huge low end with no loss of clarity wherever I can hear it. When I started buying the headset I couldn't believe Beyer had made an updated 770 with a detachable cable and boom mic. The specs for the Beyer Custom Games say 16 ohms so I assumed they would work without an amp. and sometimes they do. The build quality is as good as ever. This is not branded nonsense "gamers". hard metal and plastic. No squeaks and same amazing landing as far as I remember. I ordered a set of factory velor cups to fit my 770, leather OEMs are fine but velor just doesn't sweat in the summer months. Costs $30. Now for the sound quality. They are very similar to my 770, only with the bass port open to the maximum, setting any limit spoils the sound IMHO. My problem was the volume. For a 16 ohm headset they need a TON of juice. My active Galaxay S8 and Logitech G110 couldn't really push these drivers past 75% of their maximum. Only the Xfi Sound Blaster board came close to 85% of the 770s. I had to use a dedicated headphone amp to bring the low frequencies fully to life and get the full potential out of these cans. That doesn't really bother me, but it's a bit disappointing that it won't be cell phones as I hate carrying around portable amps. Strangely, a basic Sansa MP3 player was better than my phone at making them louder. Although at 100% the distortion was quite noticeable. So for those who doubt it. Yes, you need extra juice to run them. Yes, I recommend running at least 8 hours before judging them, frequencies below 100Hz opened up after a day of use. Plus it's AMAZING. Comfortable, durable, non-obtrusive, SQ-approved bass head. In fact, this is an upgraded DT770 Pro with an additional microphone for gaming. Trust me they will outperform any Razor, Corsair, Skullcandy or any other GAMER branded product. The Beyer Dynamic is made in Germany and the emphasis on sound quality over gimmicks is very evident.
