Review on 💾 Transcend Storejet 1TB Portable USB 3.0 Hard Disk (TS1TSJ25H3P) - Fast and Reliable External Storage Solution by Ronald Cambridge

I bought this to archive files from several old hard drives. The tag worked perfectly, I transferred 75 gigs with no problems. Then it started giving me error messages and stopped working. I can transfer data from there but not from inside. Replaced with something else. I wouldn't even bother writing a bad review if I didn't have to spend an hour on the line with Revane just to get return authorization from some idiot who kept giving me command line crap to try that didn't once a computer I used applied. So a really bad review on Revain but then it went away anyway. Now, a week later, an update. I replaced this item with an almost identical one and got the same problem. After delving deeper into them (that's not my area and not something I'd want to do to salvage a cheap hard drive) I found that they both used the FUSE file format and one of the characteristics of it is that it crashes when working with a large number of files. Or something stupid like that. So I reformatted this disk to a different file system, EXT4. NTFS would probably work too. After that, it worked long enough for me to transfer all the files I needed, and then stopped working again - doesn't mount on any computer about half the time. So I went back and repartitioned and reformatted the drive. And now it is stable. I sent back the one I bought to replace as it broke even quicker and was more difficult to deal with.
