These clear stampers are pretty and I had no problems picking up images. I used them straight out of packaging and they required no washing or priming. I used them on a plate that had very fine lines and picked up well. I do a lot of reverse stamping and worked well to see the image was colored in. Since the entire handle is clear it allows for light to come in and you can see your images easily. I did not use the scraper as I have some of the same I received with other brands. I prefer the smaller and thinner store card type scrapers. I do not recommend cleaning your holders or stamper heads with acetone as they will become cloudy. Mild soap and water will leave your heads nice and clean. The heads are semi-squishy and do not fall into the holder as you press onto the nails or in picking up the images. A quick light roll on the plate will pick up well. I do not recommend pressing straight down. I used Stamping Polishes, not regular polish. I definitely recommend these stampers.
