Review on ๐Ÿงบ Stainless Steel 300 Micron Mesh Brewing Hopper Basket - Perfect Brew Filter for Homebrew Dry Hops, Beer, and Tea Kettles by Jason Havens

A few things I'd like to share after a few months of use

I've been keg hopping for about five months and there are some improvements that could be made. First, the bottom is like a small cup and doesn't have holes like a screw cap. If you fish it out of the barrel, it doesn't drain well. In addition, the hops in the lower "cup" are still half pelleted, as if they had not been completely consumed. It's probably a good 1/2 ounce, which is important. I drilled a hole in the bottom "cup" and moved the locking ring connector down so it now hangs upside down. Things are going well and all the hops are fully developed, but there is another problem. My last batch had 6 ounces of dry hops and when I removed the lid the hops were just one big hard disk that I had to scoop out. The filter has restricted the hop expansion so much that I don't think the hops are being fully utilized (again). I don't know if the hop expands AFTER it's fully consumed or BEFORE. It would certainly make a difference, but I think I'll try a large nylon bag next time. Maybe even a small airbag.
