My son is visiting with his 60 lb Catahoula. Scooby is a very friendly, water-loving dog. When he goes out for a drink, which he often does, he eats and eats and eats, leaving splatters, huge drops, and long jets of water on the kitchen floor. My husband became dissatisfied with wearing socks in the kitchen. I once slipped on the Scooby Drops and almost fell. I'm not inclined to risk breaking a bone. So when I read that one of the online dog grooming bloggers recommended this type of bowl, I checked out a few. I stopped there. In a week this bowl made the whole family happy. Our dirtiest water hoses have NEVER been splashed or dripped. We all watch with bated breath as he drinks, we are so in love with this bowl. Personally, I have no problem washing my pet's water bowl on a daily basis. Anyway, I do it for my cat. I can't stand the thought of a beloved pet drinking stale water or water with food particles dissolved in it. An animal in the wild is always looking for the freshest water it can find. If anything changes in how the bowl works, I'll update my review. It's a winner now and solved our wet floor problem.
