This works very well for a Peppermint OS 3 system. I plugged it in and it worked. There is no need to install drivers from the CD provided with this adapter. There is a strong signal. It doesn't even get hot like my old adapters. It does not turn off when using Peppermint OS 3. I tried downloading the drivers and wireless network manager from the CD but it just hangs on the XP system so I just installed the drivers. Although XP already had drivers for the 300Mbps wireless adapter when I plugged it in. Maybe you don't need them with XP. I've been using it for a week. I have 2. One for my laptop and one for my desktop and both work fine on Peppermint OS 3. My desktop is Linux Peppermint and XP dual boot. Now I can use both and speed up uploads and downloads. I bought this because I had a wireless adapter that kept disconnecting when using Peppermint OS 3. An XP system on the same machine used the adapter with no problem, but not on the Linux side. I've read that some adapters just won't stay connected when using a Linux system and I've tried that. I've seen a list of adapters that claim to work well with Linux and one of them was the TP-Link brand. I used to have a 54 megabyte adapter and figured I'd try something with a larger capacity. Yes, it says 300 megabytes per second. I'm not sure if it can reach that speed as I have a router that only runs at 150Mbps. (Yes, it's fast just for my regular email and YouTube, I'm not a gamer.) I'm in a different room from the router and I'm getting 144.5 Mbps and 3 out of 4 bars per connection. It works better than my old adapter and works on my Linux system. I'm using Peppermint 3 and a 2005 desktop with XP Pro. I also use it on a 2003 Peppermint 3 laptop and it works great. I had to put a USB stick in an old Dell Inspiron 4150 to get USB2. Now I can use Linux with a fast wireless USB adapter. Well! I recommend this adapter. The price is good and it's half the size of my old adapter. I'm not as nervous as I used to be when my old adapter stuck out. This one is much shorter. And it works better. 5 stars for Linux users and dual boot enthusiasts like me!
