Unfortunately, meat numbers aren't always the same (pork hip can be particularly tricky), so I'm looking forward to using this thermometer on my next smoke to make sure my meat is at temperature is (195-205F) in addition to some other non-readable sensors in my arsenal (there can never be too many!). I tested this instant read on some Costco chicken fillets I cooked last night (had to make a quick kid's meal), frozen, and I didn't want to serve a family chicken that was (1) fried on the outside. but raw inside or (2) overcooked. Because overcooked chicken is the worst. This instant read helped me figure out when to stop cooking and for that I am very grateful. My sensors without instant reading wouldn't be as fast as I need them to be when frying. Happy with this purchase. Solidly built and its new home is magnetic to my microwave over my stovetop for easy access when I need it.
