Unfortunately none of the pictures show the flip top hooks closing. These are fasteners that you must clamp on both sides and then insert into the jig on the other side. If I had known that, I would not have bought this product. (It doesn't say so in the written description either.) I have weak hands and can't use these clasps so I have to dangle them and that just detracts from the overall look and utility of the bag. It serves its purpose partially (helps me carry a book to the class I'm taking) but it's not of high quality and for me the clasp renders it ineffective.
