I bought this case fan for my original Xbox and I have to say it is much quieter than most stock fans. Removing the original fan is very difficult and you can break the tab if this is your first time and you are not very careful. I broke my first one, some epoxy and I was able to fix it. I tested it with standard fans from different brands and at full speed this fan is much quieter. If you love me and are buying this for your original Xbox you can use zip ties if you like, I do, but the hard drive tray will put pressure on it and hold it in place. I removed the corner of the fan with a hacksaw because I didn't like the way it met the hard drive tray, but I brought it together before removing it and it came back together completely so it may not necessary is. When you remove the old fan it goes straight up, you can't unlock one tab and then another by wiggling or whatever, and those tabs don't like to flex at all. You practically need three hands to pull it out without breaking the tab, but it can be done. The fan snaps into place better with the tabs in place, but if you break one, it shouldn't matter much. You can also go to eBay and buy another console case if that really bothers you I think.
