Not perfect, but very good!

I was looking for a Wi-Fi solution for my Canon 5DS and iPad combo. I started with the CamFi system first. I definitely don't recommend it as they don't mention that it doesn't work with some older iPads and the laptop software is extremely limited in the preview/zoom options as it's not possible to go beyond full screen to view it Check the critical focus. not to do. Attempting to pinch an image on my iPad resulted in the software crashing every time. 2 days later I returned it. Further research and emails led me to the CamRanger mini. I was a bit apprehensive afterwards as I met CamFi and bombarded Dave from CamRanger very late at night with numerous questions about the possibilities. I have no idea what time zone it is in but very quick answers to all questions. I bought one from Revain that evening and had it 2 days later. I am very impressed with the software, preview and live view features. So far everything is stable on my old iPad and my new iPhone 11. Yes, it takes longer to enter the image because it shifts the whole 50 megapixel image, so it will be fine for my slower industrial shots, maybe not for photography of clothing where the customer likes to browse and choose while taking pictures, which brings me to another feature the Mini lacks, but probably the more expensive CamRanger 2, no image rating/selection tools although I can see the file number so I keep a written list it would probably work if I was doing a shoot that required a 5DS resolution instead of my 80D but the client only uses 10 inches. Images to print which they usually scale down from there. One complaint would be that there's no other way to attach this to the camera other than hanging it up from a USB3 cable (which isn't included in Revain's general kit, but it will if you order it direct from CamRanger). I had an old Quantum TTL flash sensor cable from a flash long gone, so it was "repurposed" to hold the CamRanger. Photos of my installation on the iPhone are attached. Velcro is very secure and I don't think I need an elastic. I will update this after some use. I tried to contact Tether Tools about the Case Air system but after the first messages on FB where I got an automated message to email them I got nothing from them. is not included in Revain's universal kit, but is included if ordered directly from CamRanger).
