I have been using Wellness cat food, both canned and dry, for many years as I have found it to be a high quality product which helps to keep my two cats healthy. About a year ago I switched my dry cat food to grain free for a number of reasons and recently bought and started using a bag of Wellness Grain Free Indoor cat food for the first time. However, shortly after, I happened to read an article about an organization that tested 900 of the most popular (best-selling) pet foods and treats. One of the startling findings was the presence of 5,000 parts per billion (ppb) of LEAD, measured in grain-free wellness cat food, which is 55 TIMES the lead level in drinking water in Flint, Michigan! The Flint water crisis has led to new recommendations that pets should not drink water above 150 ppb! Other wellness products have shown no leadership at all. But for that reason I threw away my bag of Wellness Grains and will not be buying any Wellness Grain Free dry food until I know the problem is resolved. I am still confident in buying their canned cat food.
