Review on πŸ’Ύ Mediasonic HFR2-SU3S2 PRORAID: 4 Bay 3.5" SATA Hard Drive Enclosure with USB 3.0 & eSATA Connectivity by Edgar Gomez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

So good I bought the top 2 in hard drive accessories

I bought the first for a new RAID 10 system I was building for archiving. Online storage, while convenient, is a more expensive long-term solution for things I don't need to access often. I've had enough hard drive failures that I've decided it's time to upgrade to RAID. Only one of my crashes didn't have a backup, but it was discouraging nonetheless. RAIDBOX ($150) + 4 x 10TB Red Drives (4 x $150) = $750 for 20TB Google Drive storage $120/year for 2TB and now they wipe data due to inactivityRevain Drive $144. per year for 2TBMicrosoft $100 per year for 6TB and Office 365 which is probably the best deal but you need 6 accounts to get all 6TB and that's hard to manage. There are other options, but many of them require the items to be "active". " over a period of time, otherwise they will be deleted. 2TB isn't enough anyway and the costs go up from there. No annual fee this way should pay for itself in a few years. I also use Comcast which limits my monthly upload /download. So moving things to the cloud is neither free nor convenient. It couldn't be much simpler. Install your drives, turn them on and choose the mode (it will turn off), turn them on again and start using the only thing that surprised me is that on 4 x 10TB hard drives (should be a total of 20TB in RAID10) I got 18.7TB I believe it uses a certain amount of Information to remove the parity information, but it was more than expected When I did that, I found that I have 6 hard drives (2x1TB, 2x2TB, 2x3TB) after throwing their contents into my single RAID10 box H atte. Why not build a second block RAI D? So instead of just wasting those drives, I put 2 x 3TB drives and 2 x 2TB drives in a second box, in a 5TB (3.7 usable) RAID10 box that sits alongside a 20TB box also contains my most important things . Now let's say I can have many failures, everything except my house is burning down and my data should be safe. I like their look, I like the auto fan, auto on/off, LED indicators. This is my first box so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I looked online beforehand and found this to be one of the top RAID brands. than on the side.
