Review on Zerostart 3100109 Engine Block Heater: Efficient Heating Solution for Optimal Engine Performance by Tim Wheeler

Thermostat set to turn on at 0 degrees Fahrenheit

I bought a heater with a thermostat in a wire. I would like a higher setting, for example in the 25-30 degree range. Its my fault. I'll probably just cut it off and put a new ending. The end connected to the heating element has no clip or bracket. Now I see that a few different models have it. When installing on my 2007 Tahoe I had to use an impact gun because my block drain plug was so tight and stuck. To use the kick, I had to unscrew the oil cooler lines and set them aside. As soon as I saw the plug move, I unscrewed it by hand, readying the heater for quick insertion into the hole. You'll get coolant on your arm and on your shirt, but it was a lot quicker than draining and refilling. When I was done, I just started the truck and filled up the tank. A bit messy, but you'd probably make a bit of a mess by draining it in front of your hand anyway. It comes with thread sealant but I also added some teflon tape. If you remove the oil lines, you will also need to replace the gasket.
