We do not subscribe to cable or satellite TV. We only have free to air TV. Our Toshiba Smart TV remote didn't have number buttons to change channels. This special remote control replaces the Toshiba remote control. As already mentioned, it does not need to be programmed. That means you don't have to scan different frequencies to pair it with your Toshiba Smart TV to get it working. Simply insert the batteries and press the power button to turn on the TV. It saves us a lot of time switching or changing channels, unlike the remote control that comes with the TV. With the standard remote you have to toggle between each channel, which is annoying, especially when you want to switch from a single digit channel to a double digit channel and vice versa. We are very happy with this product.
