later 4 stars given the price. For the price, throwing a spare pair of pliers in a car tool bag is fine. The wire cutters on all the pliers worked well with wire up to 12ga (the biggest I've had to date) and of course the zip ties weren't a problem. All 4 were a good size if you only have one handy when you need them. A problem that applies to both the needle and the pliers is that the jaws do not fully match. Although almost perfectly parallel, the jaws do not quite converge even though they meet on the cutting tool. Not a big gap. At the point of the needle, we're talking a little less than 32 inches. For a lineman, the hair is bigger. For reference, when using standard transfer paper, the needle tip picks up 4 layers, not 3. It took 5 layers for the pliers. So for 99.9% of what I (and most people) probably do, there is no problem. But pliers that were comparable in price and that I bought from a well-known supplier of Chinese tools in this country did not have this problem either. put, but it's just me.
