Reliable, fast, fun for sports

Ritchey SpeedMax Cross Comp Bike Tire Black/Black Steel 700x35CI Bought these tires for my Schwin Axios Cyclocross bike. I have 15 miles of singletrack near my house. and light dirt. I was looking for a tire that offers a little more traction and some damping at the roots, but is still fast on flat ground. So far I'm very happy with these tires. I typically use 45psi in the front and 50 or 55psi in the rear. I definitely wouldn't call the ride soft, but it's a lot better than the 700x32 configuration I had before. or rocks. Not much profile in the middle so you won't climb steep or gentle climbs without momentum, but you can actually fly flat. Most of the stronger profile is on the edges. This gives excellent secondary traction in corners. Many times I've felt the bike blur beneath me and then pocket these little raised edges. I've ridden them about 150 miles off-road and they've held up well. I only had one apartment. And on this unfortunate occasion I was in the middle of nowhere and screwed up a hose change and wasted my only CO2 cartridge and none of them hit the tire :( I ran the remaining 5 miles of singletrack on a flat tire. It was nasty as hell, but the tire held up all the time and I still ride it today. And there was no rim damage either between the tire cushion and the flat tube. These things are practically flat!
