Review on ๐Ÿ“บ Govee RGBIC TV LED Backlight: APP Controlled, Music Sync, Scene Modes - Ideal for 30-50 inch TVs by Douglas Irwin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Bluetooth control is much better than IR, especially on digital tapes.

Never write a review to say anything about these lights. USB power is excellent and the wired remote offers basic settings. Bluetooth control is something I'm concerned about, although my biggest issue with the LEDs that are currently behind my TV is my soundbar turning off because they're flashing purple, and the volume with the remote does that light changes to blue. This is not an issue with Bluetooth control. The ihoment app has a decent design and allows you to customize almost any color and brightness. It also has multiple scenes to choose from and 4 music modes. The app lets you name multiple lanes and choose which ones you want to control. The app sometimes crashes when launched on my Galaxy S7, but a restart works. Because these LEDs are digital, each diode has the POTENTIAL to be individually driven. I say "potential" because it's realized no other than in multiple audio modes. I'd love to be able to set multi-color sequences with the ability to scroll in a specific direction, curl from center to ends, or play ping-pong. I also want to be able to group multiple strips together so I can set colors for multiple strips rather than individually. All of this should be possible and only needs to be coded in the application. These are my new strips that I can recommend provided the app continues to be supported or becomes rich enough not to require updates. I will be purchasing a second kit to replace the analog IR LEDs on my TV.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Protection
