Review on Panasonic SDR S26 SD Camcorder Blue by Gede Agung ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not the best quality, but overall not bad.

I am having second thoughts about purchasing this camcorder. I am aware that I have made some errors, and because of those errors, I previously held a different opinion. The thing to keep in mind is that the clarity of the video is extremely reliant on both the settings and the appropriate conversion of the video. Ulead VideoStudio has been a part of my workflow for a considerable amount of time. It makes it simple for you to convert MOD files, which the camera writes, to AVI in its most common format. But at the same time, it makes the video significantly less clear. I did not discover this right away, and I am still surprised by it, because the program is still serious, and it should edit everything correctly. Because the camera captures video in an interlaced format, it is critical that the deinterlacing process be carried out in the most effective manner prior to the file's conversion to AVI format. Failing to do so will result in a reduction in image quality and clarity. Currently, I handle everything in VirtualDub, which has all of the necessary plugins installed. Additionally, the video's quality is very close to the original. And it's not actually that terrible. Even in low light, this camera is capable of producing video of a quality that can be considered satisfactory. In order to complete this task, make sure that the shutter speed is set to 1/25 and that the backlight compensation mode is selected. It is recommended that you avoid using the low light mode because it produces a lot of noise. Use a shutter speed of 1/50 during the day, but increase it to 1/100 when shooting in direct sunlight. The aperture setting ought to change on its own. After that, the quality of the video will be satisfactory. It is obvious that it has room for improvement; however, there are not a great deal of grounds for criticism. If you shoot using the appropriate settings and then deinterlace the image in the appropriate way, the quality will be more than satisfactory. I should not have been so harsh with Panasonic the last time we spoke. Even though there is room for improvement in the camera, such as the addition of a 1/6 matrix, it is still not a terrible camera.

Pros
  • Despite this, it's a decent camera. There are positive aspects to this. This includes things like how simple it is to use, how well it's designed, how compact it is, how well it stabilizes images optically, how powerful the zoom is, and how good the video quality can be with the right settings and editing.
Cons
  • Small matrix 1/8. When using low light mode, the noise level is extremely high. Furthermore, if you turn on the backlight compensation mode at the same time, the video will become even more unwatchable due to the increased amount of background noise. And one's perception of clarity worsens. There are also a few minor flaws, such as the fact that the text can be erased very quickly, and the inscription "Stereo Zoom" in particular can be erased very quickly. wiped out totally and forever. Despite the fact that I'm very careful with the camera. My old Samsung camera, which I purchased about a year ago, has not yet deleted anything from its memory card. In addition to that, the gasket that was attached to the camera's base quickly detached itself. But these are relatively minor concerns.
