This is a fantastic large statement piece. We are redoing, slowly, or home to a modern farmhouse decor done in grays with black accents. This works so well! We put this on one of the walls in the kitchen and it fills the whole space with just a simple elegance. The clock face gives the appearance of weathered wood that has been slatted together. The letters are sort of a bronzy color that fits in with our color scheme well.I don't have any visual scratches or anything so I think it was done pretty well. The back is just a stained black, kind of rough looking. It has two hooks to hang it on or you can string picture wire on it. It's not that heavy so if you put it on a good solid hook you would be fine. This will not hang away from the wall very much as it has a lip around the outside of the back of it to help with the depth of the actual mechanism of the clock so it would hide your hooks.I would not say that this is the best-looking clock as far as quality but, you are looking for rustic generally when you're doing farmhouse so it fits in just fine. The clock does make a little bit of a noise but in a kitchen, no one really notices. It does run on batteries and we've had it up for a few weeks without an issue. Overall, considering what I've priced these at at other places this is a pretty good value.
