I bought this tablecloth to protect the top of my new dining table. It is thick enough that spills can be controlled and other potential food stains will not penetrate the tabletop. I place this pad/tablecloth on the table and then cover it with one of my beautiful tablecloths. When dinner is over, I take the tablecloth to the washer and wipe down the durable tablecloth liner with a damp cloth. Sometimes when my grandkids come over for dinner I just use durable vinyl to serve them food or let them use my dining table for artwork. When they leave, I wipe down the vinyl tablecloth and tuck it away so the tabletop stays as good as new.
