Review on Miracord Turntable Glossy Silver MRC501 GB by Wayne Lemke

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very durable player!

Very good player. Good weight and solid construction. Plays very quietly and good quality. I did a lot of research before purchasing this player and it's a worthy competitor to the Project and Fluency players. The cartridge it comes with is fine - sounds good and sounds great - but the upgrade improves performance significantly. I switched to a Grado pickup and it sounds fantastic! This is my biggest criticism of the table - it really should come with a better cartridge. The detachable head housing greatly simplifies replacement. It also comes with a very decent preamp that sounds really good. I also have a Pluto preamp but I prefer the built in preamp that comes with the Miracord player for use with my system components. I really enjoy playing my vinyl on this table. I had a reverse orbit for a few years and switched to this. Turnaround was great for the first two years, then engine clicking and following became a big problem. I even switched the orbital cartridge to 2M Red and the disc to acrylic, but this Elac Miracord was a big improvement. I was able to purchase directly from Elac at a reduced price of $298. I also have Elac Debut 6.2 speakers hooked up to a Yamaha amp and Polk subwoofer. This combo with Miracord sounds amazing! If you're looking for a durable turntable, this is a great option!
