I have an old version of this radio. It worked well for me for several years and when I needed another I bought the same model. Oregon made a few changes that I think really hurt the radio. Firstly, the volume is FULL LOUD during the warning and the volume cannot be turned down like my old one. Since this radio sits on the nightstand right next to my bed (and head), I get VERY annoying when it wakes me up with an alarm at night. Second, they dimmed the flashing light that indicates the radio is in silent monitoring mode, dim enough not to be easily seen when the bedroom lights are on. One positive change they made was that the new model doesn't lose its settings/memory when changing batteries like the old model did. I agree with several other reviewers, this radio is definitely not programming friendly. Nothing in the programming of this radio speaks for itself, you will NEVER be able to change any settings on this radio without consulting the owner's manual. If you lose the instruction manual, you are SOL! I keep mine next to the radio. If you have technical problems and problems programming your VCR or TV, do not buy this radio!
