It's a pity that a really good portable CD player is no longer on the market. I did a lot of research and read many reviews to find what I wanted. I work in a job where I listen to a lot of CD books and I needed certain features. ++ = I love the resume feature and that's one of the main reasons I bought this. The $9.99 models (if you can find them in stores) don't pick up where you left off on the CD - they start over unless you hit the pause button, which eats up your batteries . ++ = I also bought this player to burn MP3 CDs. I have several books on MP3 CDs and you certainly can't play them on a regular portable CD player. In fact, many audio companies are switching to MP3 format.++ = Programming my FM stations was pretty easy. I intentionally don't listen to the radio (too much talk), but if I want to for some reason, they're set up and ready to go.++ = The sound quality is really good. My old Sony Psyc was on its last legs I think because the audio was starting to "muddy" and when I was sitting in cramped desks at work I had to turn up the volume and the people next to me sat, hated it. With this player I don't have to fiddle around with the volume as much.++ / -- = That's a plus/minus for the battery life. It requires 2 AA batteries and it says you can set it to 'Extra Life' and I have this set but I honestly don't think there is a difference in battery life. My old player only used 1 AA battery and this player seems to last as long on 2 batteries as my old player did on 1. -- = I think that's the only downside to this player (other than the battery). Life) My old player, when I insert a disc, reads it immediately and immediately shows the length of the disc. With THIS player you have to press the PLAY button and it loads for about 30 seconds and then immediately starts playing. And when you stop the CD, it needs to "reset" for another 30 seconds to resume playback from where you left off. My old player started right after pressing the stop button and then played again. -- = Another minus. Price. I was desperate so I paid full price for it. Free shipping from Revain. Comparing costs across multiple websites, Revain was found to be the cheapest with free shipping. This cd player is around $50-60 + shipping on any other site. Will I ever pay that price again? I do not know. Depends if they still have players like this in a few years and how desperate I was at the time and if I'm still in the same job. :) If you're willing to pay the price and as desperate as I am then it's worth the money. By the way, I had a girlfriend (we both work in the same job) who had to replace her. CD players too, and she went to Best Buy, and she also looked at a Zune MP3 player, and the salesman asked her why she didn't just buy an MP3 player and forget the CD player. I have to say that anyone who listens to audio books on CD (or even cassette) knows that book download websites (Audible.com) cost a lot of money! But then again, if you have the money to go down that route, good for you, but for me (and for them) the library is FREE and easily accessible. Just something to note!
