I bought this for a very unconventional use. I keep a lot of invertebrate pets like tarantulas and the good thing about these types of pets is that you can make enclosures out of plastic tubs, acrylic containers, or pretty much any clear container you want with some modifications (namely, ventilation holes). . I used to just drill the holes in the containers I wanted, but this became quite labor intensive and time consuming (not to mention the instability of the cordless drill which made it difficult to make multiple holes in a very straight line). Making neat vent holes is easy with this tool. In about 15 minutes I was able to melt over 100 holes in a large plastic tub that would have taken me over an hour with a cordless drill. You can even use this to "cut" large holes in more brittle plastic that can break with a circular saw. I can't comment on the durability of this device since I just bought it, but if you just need to make some DIY cases in a short amount of time I'd highly recommend it.
