Fails even without a phone

This is a really terrible design. I've tried this on several lighters. On all of them there isn't even enough friction to hold anything upright without a phone. It's held in place by a tiny rubber washer that rubs into the cigarette lighter socket. It was completely useless once the phone was connected. At best, he tries to turn the socket in the dashboard. Forget about driving over bumps or cornering. Very bad experience for me in several cars (Japanese and European).
