Review on X462 Excalibur Coaxial Speaker by David Boone

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Looks like a clone of Hollywood's eXcursion X-462 series!

If they sound anything like Hollywood 4x6 coaxial speakers made about 15 years ago, they must be amazing. Hollywood is rated more conservatively and believably: 50W RMS / 100W MAX. Baskets are chrome plated when it is difficult to see on the frames. When I first got them they were built into a makeshift home speaker cabinet for testing purposes and they sound as good or better than all the small bookshelf speakers I own (at least 30 pairs of JBL, Infinity, AR, Mirage, Jamo, Polk, Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony etc) I didn't blow them up but they were powered by an old Denon 50w x2 home stereo. They have a very mellow sound, which was very shocking given that I paid less than $20 for shipping about 15 or more years ago. They seem to have the best cone material, Hollywood is a poly cone with a rubber surround and looks very well built. Once upon a time, Hollywood produced some exciting speakers. If this company buys them out or is reborn, I expect good reviews.

Pros
  • Coaxial Speakers
Cons
  • Doubtful
