I had the same problem as many others with air simply escaping the valve at the bottom of the air filter. As I unpacked my Milton 1108 and simply set it aside, I noticed a tiny clip in the packaging material. I also noticed a rattling noise in the air filter when I installed it. After the installation was complete and I turned on the compressor, there was a constant flow of air coming out of the bottom of the air filter that couldn't be stopped by turning the valve. I came here the next day and found out what the problem was through reviews and questions. I unscrewed the bottom of the filter, found the flat head pin and spring dangling loosely in the housing, slipped them through the valve on the bottom and secured them with the loose clamp fitting. So far so good, the clip stays on but I see it coming loose due to future loosening. Filters and regulators are also supplied already attached to each other with visible sealant on the threads. Don't believe it, you will regret it after you hang everything on the wall. Take them apart and glue them to seal the tread. All solvable problems, but you don't have to. Bad quality control.
