chalk or flour? - Gymnastics

I gave this chalk a week to grow; it's not like this. I bought a whole pound of this stuff and I'm afraid it's all going straight to the bin. When I opened the box I noticed that most of the individually wrapped stones were already broken or cracked. No big deal, I figured they were probably just treated a little roughly upon delivery. However, it turned out to be the most brittle, crumbly and least calcareous chalk I have ever encountered. Most crayons stick to your hands but this one doesn't, most crayons stick to each other but this one doesn't, most crayons give a good frictional grip but this one doesn't. I have to admit I'm a bit convinced that it's some kind of pressurized mix of flour and baby powder. When I use it on my sweaty hands at the gym, it acts more like a dampener than a drying agent. The chalk should help you grip things, not interfere with your grip.
