I used to use thick/plush terry towels for the bath and pool. When my best friend (she is Turkish) gave me a Turkish towel about 8 months ago, I didn't think I would like it. I thought it was too big, felt like it wouldn't absorb well and it just didn't feel like something I'd been used to all my life. Not only do I have no towels at the end of the week, I just throw in my towel with t-shirts and shorts and everything comes out great. I tumble dry it for a few minutes to soften it up and then just hang it back in the bathroom to dry completely. I wish I had known about these towels when I had kids at home! I also like to take them to the pool. My terry beach towel, once wet, never dried between entrances and exits. A Turkish towel thrown over the back of my chair stays dry every time I reach for it. The most important thing to know about these towels is that they become more absorbent after a few washes. It also seems important not to tumble dry them. I was concerned about finding the same quality towels as the ones my friend brought from Turkey as I had read a review that said these 6 were 'not real Turkish towels'. But the 6 pieces I bought here are of the same quality as the ones my friend brought from Turkey. With all that said, I still understand that these towels might not be for everyone. You are thinner. No, they don't look like terry towels. But they dry, stay fresh much longer, are easy to care for, save money and energy by washing less and the colors are fun! Victory, victory, victory! By the way, I had no problems with the fringes. The knots are still secure, they haven't tangled or frayed. Hope that helps.
