Classic but less beautiful than classic

The classic SOMA Cube was a great puzzle/toy. This version is an exact interpretation of the original, however some corners have been cropped for ease of production, which detracts from the overall impression. Individual parts will show sprue marks, knit lines, offsets and glue, some more than others. , and there is a flash in a few spots, though not much. These things are easy to overlook and there is nothing unusual about them. There are vacant lots here and there, which is less important. But the issue that really affects the experience is the choice of design. The toy consists of 27 small cubes that are grouped in groups of four and one group of three. You have to put them together in different compositions and make them look good afterwards. However, since the surfaces of these cubes are matt, which was probably chosen to extend the life of the molds, there is a slight draft to make it easier to remove the cubes from the mold. (Slope is when the sides of the shape aren't parallel.) A sloped cube isn't really a cube; The design cubes do not fit closely together without causing displacement elsewhere. The original SOMA dice were not tilted, so the sides of the dice were parallel and the dice fitted closely together. To get them out of shape, the original dice had to have a smooth, shiny surface. Since they don't, and therefore have some traction, they don't exactly match; they are carelessly combined. Experience suffers as a result.
