Review on πŸ“· Detachable Eyepiece for Olympus OM-D E-M5 Camera - EP-11 by Danny Rogers

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Better for non-glasses wearers.

Blocks more flare better than the standard EP-10 eyecup that comes with the O-MD E-M5. There are no instructions, but the EP-10 appears to be unscrewed. Lift one side straight up and then the other. The EP-11 is inserted and snapped into place in the same way. Some reviewers on DPReview.com say it's easy to remove, but I ran out of that in two weeks when I picked up my camera bag and took it out. As long as it actually snaps into place, it should stay in place. My main problem with this is that with glasses (I shoot with my left eye, by the way) you just can't see much of the frame. With the standard EP-10 I can see about 95% of the frame (tilting to one side or the other shows edges I can't see). With the EP-11 I only see about 90% of the picture. When I take off my glasses and adjust the diopter, I see 100% of the frame. So I recommend it more for those who don't wear glasses. It also blocks stray light more effectively when you're not wearing glasses. I prefer not to take my glasses off when taking photos because I'm so nearsighted that I'm tired of taking my glasses off every time I bring the camera to my eye and then putting them back on when I need to look away. viewfinder. Back to EP-10. The only time I want it to block more light is when the sun is shining on me from the side. I'd rather deal with those rare situations and be able to see more of the frame. The EP-11 also sticks out more from the camera, but that's not a problem for me. I can still easily get it out of my pocket and it hangs nicely on my chest. EP-11 is cheap enough to try. I'll keep mine to use in really sunny situations.
