Review on Powerblanket BH55RR 80: Advanced Thermostat for Industrial Resistance by Jerry Mangum

I have to say this concept is a great solution for heating 55 gallon drums of anything. However, I bought a similar model BH55RR in January 2016 and it no longer works. I've used it probably 12 times in total and always been careful how I store it etc. Knowing a bit how things like this (heating elements) work I tried not to fold it but let it stand on its end. in a very loose coil. After mine stopped working, I took it apart to see if I could fix it. It was clear that the "sensitive" heating element had just broken when this blanket was being folded for shipping in the small box when it was originally sent to me. In fact, several other creases, hotspots, can be seen along other parts of the heating element. Actually, I still have the original shipping box and I remember when I first unpacked it, I found it odd that it was folded into such a small box. As I said, this is a great idea and worked extremely well for the first few years. But if all of these products are stacked and shipped in the same SMALL boxes, I foresee the same problems. I enjoyed using it, but can't afford to pay another $450 or so for another one. The smaller 55 gallon drum band heater works fine. It's just a little more cumbersome to use.
