It's plastic, inexpensive, just the way it is
It does what it's supposed to do. I have had several of these over the past ten years of owning charter boats. Just don't throw it away and use it for its intended purpose and it will last about a year. The last one I had was over a year old when it finally broke like the others. Do not drop it. Don't throw it off the boat onto concrete etc. 5 stars.
