Review on πŸ”Œ Delphi GN10235 High Performance Plug Top Coil by Aaron Charlton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

So far, so good. for spares

Just this morning I fitted these ignition coils to my MB C300 (and recently changed the spark plugs). Immediately after installation, I feel an increase in performance (performance is restored to the original). *If they fail soon I will update this review VERY heavily. But so far so good. These forks are made in Portugal (at least mine) so they seem good. If they were made in China I would send them back as they are the first thing I checked when my package arrived. My only gripe is that one of the six forks looks old (earlier) production compared to the others, judging by the production batch number - and that one is slightly less yellow than the other five. I maintain my car and while a slightly different shade of yellow isn't a big deal and is under the air intake cover, it still bugs me a bit. But I'm not deducting a star for that. Maybe I should replace that plug. I do not know yet. UPDATE December 2020: It's been about 3 months since I installed these new coils and they're still running strong so I think I can conclude they're legit for now. No issues, and the original power recovery I felt when I first installed it is still there. I can also clearly see an improvement in fuel consumption. I'll probably average 4 mpg more if I replace them. I had original coils for 127,000 miles. And I replaced one of the coils with a newer batch that better matches the others. The original might have been fine, but it was easy to replace, so I made it.

Pros
  • Delphi uses winding techniques to control the wire length between adjacent windings. This is important because greater length results in greater voltage differential, which in turn creates more pressure that can erode the insulation and coating on the wires.
Cons
  • Minor problems
