As far as I can tell, the negative reviews of most rotary cheese graters come from people who love their micro flat grater but have inexplicably tried the rotary model. Yes, with rotary models you need to cut the cheese into small pieces - this is quite normal. This model has a decent funnel and compared to my previous plastic model it looks like it's a lot stronger. It's easy to disassemble, can be assembled for ambidextrous use, and has enough power to grate hard cheeses with ease. I would have liked the closed end next to the handle so you can grate the cheese into the barrel and then pour it out straight away. For smaller dishes, rotating graters can be a bit messy as turning the handle causes it to wander around the plate. Regarding the comment above, this model doesn't suffer from the problem as much as my old one, but there is still a lot to consider. In short, if you need a *rotating* cheese grater, this seems like a very good and worthy model. Price. If you want a microplan, no rotating grater will do.
