Review on Magnetic Mount InfiniApps Original Patented Smartphones by Jason Wesley

Galaxy Note 2, with Otterbox case, great but.

UPDATE: April 2014 I have a 2013 Ford Mustang and this unit just doesn't open its jaws far enough to fit securely in the CD slot. Will not happen. I found the Mountek nGroove Snap2 to be a good fit and VERY good on this machine. What I also like about the Snap2 is that the magnet is larger, which gives the magnet more surface area to grip the plate in my phone. Original: There are (2) steel plates in the box, one adhesive backed and one without. I took this without glue, taped it between the outer plastic shell and the inner soft shell of the otter, and secured it with a small piece of cheap tape. I'm very impressed with how it's holding up, but wish you could swap out the magnet for a stronger one. This phone is heavy, bulky, and the Otterbox's sleek plastic body gives this magnet a full charge. I tested with the phone plugged into the coil charger, rotated the phone to landscape (with the power cord attached, adding weight to the cable) and it still held up. He may have spun a little, but certainly not enough to distract you. I could press the buttons all over the phone (except for the side ones) and it didn't move. I also found that I didn't have to turn the magnet all the way to the left to get the perfect viewing angle. I believe this angle needs to be changed as the glare from the sun causes problems when driving. It is very easy to just rotate the magnet. Others have noticed that the mount vibrates, potentially causing blur. My Note 2 is heavy and either deadened all vibrations or initially lacked them. In any case, I have nothing to complain about the vibration. When the phone isn't connected, I feel like the mount doesn't distract or block much of the dash. Compared to regular phone holders, this type of mount is VERY less in the way. My request to the manufacturer: suggest an option to replace the magnet with a stronger one. It doesn't seem to need more, but it will help for the Note 2. Also suggest a shorter screw. I only need about 1/4 of the included screw for the balance wheel to be visible and the silver color to stand out on the dashboard.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
