When I recently bought an Intel SSD to upgrade my wife's laptop, I bought a 2.5-inch Importer520 SATA hard drive enclosure, the type I love previously used in the hope that this case could be used during hard drive cloning and the old hard drive could later also be used as a portable backup solution (this case is an amazing value of a few dollars, although not a real depreciation offers and I recommend it.) Unfortunately, while these other cases and cables work fine, the electronics don't transfer full device information to the operating system via the USB port, so I couldn't use the Acronis transfer software bundled with the new SSD, their software is designed to terminate if it does not detect an Intel-branded SSD With an Intel SSD in an external enclosure, the operating system could not recognize the drive as an Intel drive and the software exited. . (I've been playing around with Clonezilla and tried other ways to clone the drive to no avail.) I then bought this case and cable hoping it would work for transfer and it worked really well. Below are the advantages and disadvantages of the model.+ The diagram in the cable shows the operating system the full device ID and other information about the hardware.+ Runs at USB 2.0+ speeds. Cute little red and blue LED indicators show when the drive is in use. + The silicone half is beautifully designed, even with small fasteners on the four corners to allow for stacking. The open sides should allow air to passively cool the closed memory well enough, unless the air passage is otherwise blocked. Drop.- Does not work at USB 3.0 speeds. I think you get what you pay for. The design of the silicone case doesn't make it suitable for keeping in a pocket or purse as a portable backup solution in my opinion. The cable protrudes from the drive. slightly oblique. This seems unsatisfactory if you really want to stack plates. When multiple enclosures of this type are used to stack drives, there may be more heat build-up than desired due to the edges forming a rough seal against one another. Hardware and silicone, the price seems relatively high compared to the actual cost.
