I teach elementary school kids (ages 3-11) and bought these for our weekly virtual class. The sticks are exactly as described. Bells and ribbons are great for any child to follow the music while singing. Each child is given a set for their singing time, which they keep at home (with scarves, bells, spinning tops, rhythm sticks, etc.) and use during class. It helps make things more interactive. We've been using them for a few weeks now and there have been no reports of splinters or broken items. One of the kids ripped off the tape (with a lot of force) but we easily reattached it and it works as it should. The bells are still ringing lightly. An interesting and affordable item for weekly use.
