Previous owners moved the deck's steps from one end of the deck to the other on the ground to open a carport below the deck. This involved putting the deck pedestal in a dangerous position by driving nails into the pedestal and into the deck. They pinned down anything exposed to the elements, and the weight quickly lost strength. There were about 3/4 inch gaps between the deck and the stringer of the stair. After the nails were removed these angle brackets were used to attach the steps to the deck and deck deck. End result I attached the steps with OZCO nuts and decorative spacers and stabilized them on the platform.
