Review on 🐱 Premium Clumping Cat Litter by Dr. Elsey by Sarah Schneider

Revainrating 2 out of 5

It attracts well but is very, very difficult to clean.

First, let me say that your claim appears to be true - my cat is DEFINITELY using her litter box more (though still not exclusively). While he used to spray outside the box at least once and sometimes up to 3 times a day, since I made the switch we've had whole days without brushing! So in that regard, this litter deserves its reputation. The problem is related to every other aspect of the waste. As for "sticking together", that word doesn't adequately describe what is happening. What happens is the cat pees and the litter turns to clay, almost like wet cement. It's incredibly heavy and sticky, so I have to pick it up, put a full scoop in a plastic bag, and then use my hand (through the bag) to pull out the used dirt and scrape it off the scoop. The only way to completely empty the crate is to empty all the litter and scrub it to get rid of all litter residue (and my cat doesn't like using the crate unless it smells like litter). on it, not counting the huge waste of garbage). Because used litter never dries out, it is often kicked when it is returned to the crate, leaving small wet litter/urine trails all over the house. Ultimately it just means that I spend a good 10 minutes cleaning the drawer every morning instead of the 3-4 minutes I used to have and the drawer is never that clean. It doesn't bother the cat at all, but it's quite annoying for me. So - this filler still stands for me and I'm thankful for less splatter/peeing outside the box, but it's messy and tough. clean.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
