Review on Viatti Brina V-521 215/60 R16 95T winter by Janis Liekmanis ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The quality is top notch, be sure to try it.

Before buying these tires, I used Continental ContiVikingContact 3 in winter, which had no complaints, except for driving on ice - they glide like any non-studded rubber. Last year, I chewed one such tire a lot and decided to take two new ones on the front axle. I decided to choose from inexpensive because of the small budget. Initially, I had my eye on Cordiant, but eventually leaned towards Viatti, after reading about the manufacturer and realizing that they make clones of Continental models. Then I noticed that the tread pattern of this model is visually similar to the Contact 3, only the grooves are wider and the tread blocks are slightly narrower, respectively. It was in February and in stores, respectively, there were already leftovers after the season, in general, in Hong Kong, I barely found this one. First impressions after installing Viatti on the front axle - a nightmare, slips on dry pavement! I think: "Okay, since I saved money, I'll drive more carefully or just get used to it." Then, after two months of use in February-March, I began to notice that the steering wheel became easier to rotate in place, i. E. obviously the contact patch of the tire is smaller (pressure 2.2). Then I noticed that it became noticeably more comfortable to drive through puddles, especially large ones, which are everywhere in the spring thaw, and the steering wheel does not lead and does not get heavier, as it was with the Continental. And finally, by the time I changed to summer, I realized that I did not feel discomfort from them and any new tires needed to get used to the car and driving style. I didn’t immediately write a review then, because. We no longer had snow. This winter I have already tried it on all possible surfaces and am very pleased. Either I'm used to it, or the tires are still not bad. It rides confidently on snow, although it glides on ice, it is predictable, on asphalt - now there are no questions. Some write about noise, perhaps noisier than summer ones, but believe me, they are no louder than other winter stickies. Noise VLI-5 on the Niva, or any spike in the car up to two million. And this one is certainly not noisier than other winter ones.

Pros
  • Price, handling on wet, loose, rolled and frozen snow. It does not make much noise, or rather, it is not noisier than other winter stickies. The spike is noisy, and this one rustles almost like summer .
Cons
  • At first, handling on dry pavement was simply shocking. There was a demolition of the front axle, and slippage during a dynamic start and skidding during braking. But after rolling about 500 km, all this returned to normal and I can say with confidence that everything in it suits me. Any new tires should be rolled in to the car and driving style.
