I like working with Caron Simply Soft because it is so soft. I had trouble splitting at times, but then I watched a YouTube video of a blogger testing crochet patterns. In the video, she explained that "there is no such thing as split yarn." This caught my attention because at the time I was working with bamboo yarn, which seemed to break all the time. The blogger went on to say that if you are having trouble splitting your yarn, you need to change your tool (hook). I used an offset hook and switched to an inline hook. Voila! My problem has been solved. So when I went back to my Simply Soft project, I did the same and it worked. As a matter of fact, I have sets of both types of crochet hooks so if one doesn't work I try the other and haven't had any split yarn issues since! Now that the separation issue is resolved I should have about 20 projects lined up that will use this yarn and I've already bought most of the yarn. You know what it's like, you find a yarn you enjoy working with and you want yarn in every color!
