We have an extra TV in the office and its speakers are sending sound up instead of in the room. Bought to direct the sound into the room they are sitting in. Works well enough for my needs. The sound quality is similar to our TV, so there's no gain or loss here. The remote control has more buttons than necessary (requires power, volume up and down, mute) as it also has numbers. Even the remote control doesn't turn the sound up to maximum volume quickly or completely. Looks great on a Blu-Ray player - very compact. Easy to install and use. The instructions don't have the best grammar or clarity, but are simple enough to understand without them. Bluetooth works well - connect to my phone and tablet to play music. The simple soundbar is worth its price.
