This massager may appeal to many but it does have its drawbacks - hopefully these will be addressed in the updated model. The first impression of its looks was that I didn't think it would be very versatile, but I was very wrong. In fact, versatility may be its greatest asset. Additionally, I thought the materials seemed strong, durable, and long lasting. Initial impressions of its use were mixed. The massage nodules are very large and unforgiving. It's absolutely necessary in the right places, but it can be painful in the wrong places. After all, it is a Shiatsu massage. When the product rests on the shoulders, it fits well; However, the nodules are so large that they constantly push my head forward as I rotate, instead of relaxing the way I'd like. In other parts of the back, legs and higher on the neck, the massage feels great and the size of the knots becomes necessary. The length of the power cord is a bit short in my opinion as I feel tethered near an outlet. . The controls are in an awkward place. While they seem to be in a great spot at first glance (top center of the left shoulder strap), they're only comfortable when the massager is positioned on the shoulders. Any other position on your back and you have to start the massager and then try to find the right spot while it's in full motion. Worse, when the massager is in the perfect spot and you need to change the settings, you have to take it off, change the setting, and hope that the setting you choose is exactly what you need and you'll find that spot again be able. The last problem with the device is that on bare skin the mesh with the nodules is very scratchy, especially when changing positions. I was actually going to give this review 3 stars, but after a few days I seem to keep coming back to this topic. It's quick to set up and get going and is fantastic at massaging the hardest to reach spots on my back without disturbing my wife. All my problems can either be skipped or solved by update. Given the good performance and ease of use of this device priced in the $40 range, I'm glad to have this massager in my collection.
